Pennsylvania Court Records - When Information Is Hard To Find

Sometimes, searching for Pennsylvania court records can be a daunting task. RecordsSiteReviews takes the headache out of searching for such records by providing you with valuable information and important PA court records links below.

Pennsylvania court records can easily be accessed as long as you know where to look. They are usually kept at the courthouse where they were heard. However, there are some cases which have been transferred to offsite premises, especially those that are already decades old. Some of them might not be in their original form anymore, such as those that have been transferred to microfilms.

Pennsylvania Court Records - Information That You Will Find

PA court records contain a variety of information, although not every case bears the same details. The contents would largely depend on the type of the suit. However, almost all cases have the essential details that are needed to identify the parties, such as their social security numbers, names and addresses. Of course, it also has information on how the controversy was disposed of.

More recent cases contain more than just the basics with regard to the identity and background of the parties. For example, criminal court records now include details on the accused person’s parole hearings, and his behavior inside the correctional facilities.

PA Court Records - Piecing Missing The Pieces

You may encounter some records that are incomplete. Juvenile records are sometimes destroyed once the individual reaches the age of majority to give him the chance to start a new life.

The fact that portions of a record have been destroyed already does not mean that you won’t be able to find out what the omitted information were all about. There are other sources that you can tap for this purpose, such as newspapers and census records

You should not limit your search to the courthouses alone. Public and private libraries house books and documents that contain details about the case that you are looking for. Police journals and publications may also be of help to your search. They are often archived at the police stations.

While going through secondary sources would mean flipping through hundreds of musty or brittle pages, these documents may be instrumental in building key links and connections that are missing in your search because of the unavailability or incompleteness of the court records.
