Nebraska Criminal Records: Top 5 Websites

There are five places online where Nebraska criminal records can be found. The sites are maintained by the NE Department of Correctional Services, police agencies such as the State Patrol, or county government websites. Nonprofit or free third party sites recommended by the NE government are found in the Nebraska state department website.

Nebraska criminal records are found in several places on the Internet. Some are specific to the county or city in which the offense was committed. Lancaster, Lincoln, and Omaha have webpages that allow you to contact the appropriate agency to access or get copies of Nebraska criminal records.

5 Websites to Access NE Criminal Records

1. Nebraska State Patrol
You can request reports on a person's criminal history (or check if any exist) from the State Patrol. What you will get is a RAP sheet (Record of Arrest and Prosecution), which contains all arrests of the person and case results (e.g., convictions, acquittals, pardons, etc.).

You can get copies of criminal records via mail or in person and the website gives you the details needed (e.g., name, alias, etc.), the fee you have to pay ($15), the mode of payment, and where to go or mail in your payment.

2. Sex Offender Registry
Based on data given by the NE State Patrol, this database search page can quickly give citizens information on sex offenders in their area. The database can be searched by zip code.

3. County/City Specific Records
a. Lancaster County criminal court records and outstanding arrest warrants can be found at www.lincoln.ne.gov.
b. Lincoln Police requests for a person's criminal history can be made and paid for online at www.lincoln.ne.gov.
c. Omaha Police requests for a person's criminal history can be made and paid for via mail or in person.

4. Inmate Search
You can search for a name among the NE inmate population by using the search engine at the Department of Correctional Services website  and typing in either a last name or the prisoner's ID number.

Other inquiries can be made via mail to the Department of Correctional Services, PO Box 94661, Lincoln, NE 68509-4661, or by calling (402) 471-2654.

5. Third Party Sites (reached through www.nebraska.gov)
The NE state government recommends two websites for a third party search. One is maintained by the Nonprofit Risk-management Center and lets you check data and the location of criminal history records in each state, including NE.

The other is a free directory of public records, which includes Nebraska criminal records as well as civil records, including other data such as those about wanted persons. Both can be reached through the NE State Department website.
