Data about Sally Field and Steven Craig from Divorce Records
Eight years after their wedding, Sally Field filed for divorce from
Steven Craig citing irreconcilable differences as the main grounds. The
couple initially had a good start when Field was becoming a house brand
through her roles in The Flying Nun after Gidget. They had two sons
together, Peter and Eli. However, things started to change when The
Flying Nun ended and Field's career somewhat came to a stagnant point.
Field was constantly seeking for more job opportunities to launch her
career. Craig on the other hand, was having difficulty running the
house whenever his wife was off or traveling.
In public divorce records, Field stated that communication was very
hard to come by and that their ideas of a relationship started to
conflict after five years of marriage. Craig was not fully supporting
Field later on and wanted to stay away from the Hollywood limelight.
Field still wanted to pursue and bring her acting career to new levels.
Even their children were beginning to show interest in film which
bothered Craig a lot. The couple reportedly separated two years prior
to their official announcement. An amicable settlement was reached and
both parties went on their separate ways. Field asked for custody over
their two boys which was granted by the court.
