Data about Paula Abdul and Emilio Estevez from Divorce Records
After two years, Paula Abdul decided to end their marriage due to
irreconcilable differences. The main thing that they cannot agree about
is their idea of a family. Abdul was very vocal and frequently shared
to her husband how she wanted to have children. In public divorce
records, Estevez thought otherwise since he already had two kids and
thought it was already too much to start a new one with more children.
They constantly fought about it which led Abdul to leave Estevez and
start on her own possibly with someone who would share her ideals.
Even at the time of their divorce in 1994, Abdul was already battling
bulimia. She had an eating disorder which also caused her much pain and
frustration. Estevez may also have been affected by the sudden impulses
or behavior changes that his wife presented at times. It was Abdul who
was more open to the public regarding their split up. She said that
Estevez just did not want to admit that he cannot handle more kids. She
also said that it was a very tough decision for her to divorce him but
she will always have high respect and affection for Estevez.
