The Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall Divorce
In 1999, model Jerry Hall
and Rolling Stone Mick Jagger divorced in Mesquite, Texas after
reaching a settlement of $50 million. Today, Mick Jagger still
continues to make music by himself and with The Rolling Stones, while
Jerry Hall lives in the mansion she got from the separation, living
with their four children Elizabeth, James, Georgia, and Gabriel.
Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall have been in a
relationship for about a decade before they got married and stayed
married for eight years. Their union brought them four
children—Elizabeth, James, Georgia, and Gabriel. The divorce
ended when Jerry Hall found out about Mick Jagger’s affair with
Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez Morad. The affair resulted in a child,
which prompted Jerry Hall to file for divorce.
Data About [couple] from Divorce Records
Citing “adultery with an unnamed woman” as the reason for
the divorce, Jerry Hall sought $50 million from the separation. It was
found that Mick Jagger had gotten Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez Morad
pregnant, a fact that the Brazilian model even proudly brandished in
the cover of London newspapers.
Jerry Hall hired the services of big-time firm Mishcon de Reya, who
also handled Princess Diana’s side in the Princess Diana-Prince
Charles divorce.
Mick Jagger has had exploits with other women during his marriage with
Jerry Hall. He was rumored to have been with models Jana Rajich, Carla
Bruni, Peta Wilson, and actress Uma Thurman. Throughout these affairs,
Jerry Hall has consulted her lawyers, possibly to file for divorce.
However, divorce records may indicate that Jerry Hall was also having
an affair herself, with real estate tycoon Guy Della.
Another complication of this controversial divorce is the pre-nuptial
agreement that both parties signed. According to marriage divorce
records, Hall can only claim up to $10 million should a divorce be
filed.
As if that’s not all, public divorce records also encountered
another hump in this particular situation. Mick Jagger, in an attempt
to salvage a fifth of his net worth, claimed that the couple’s
Hindu wedding set in Bali in 1990 was not legally binding. The said
wedding was not recognized in English Law, which makes a divorce not
legally possible. What they had was a common law marriage, and because
of this, the marriage could not be divorced, only annulled.
Jerry Hall filed for an annulment instead, which had her claiming less
than the $50 million that she initially requested when she filed for
divorce. Even though they are no longer together, and the separation
was quite controversial and painful, Hall still continues to pronounce
that her ex-husband is a good father, and that they are still friends.
She also confesses that they actually get along better now than when
they were married.
Mick Jagger did not marry nor continue on a relationship with Brazilian
model Luciana Gimenez Morad, but does support her and her son.
