Phillips and Kelly Preston divorced in Los Angeles, California after
reaching a settlement of more than $200,000. Today, Phillips is busy
with an NBC drama pilot “Backyards and Bullets” which he
signed up to star in. His most recent appearances were in several
episodes of USA Network’s “Psych” and CBS’
“Numb3rs.” Preston was a sometime extra in the hit TV show
“Baywatch.”
The
divorce is final for Lou Diamond Phillips and Kelly Preston (not to be
confused with Mrs. John Travolta), as court divorce records show.
Phillips’ acting credits include “Stand and Deliver,”
“La Bamba,” “Young Guns” along with a set of
straight-to-video thrillers. Preston was a former makeup artist and
swimsuit model at the time she and Phillips met.

Divorce records show that Lou Diamond Phillips married Kelly Preston on
April 24, 1994. This was the second marriage for the 45-year-old actor.
He was first married to Julie Cypher who later left him to be with
rocker musician Melissa Etheridge. Phillips’ marriage to Preston
produced three daughters – twins Grace and Isabella age 10, and
Lili, age 7, according to the public divorce records.
Phillips and Preston separated after 11 years of marriage on January
27, 2005, a petition filed in LA County Superior court revealed.
According to public divorce records, Lou Diamond Phillips’ wife
Kelly Preston was the one to file for divorce sometime in 2005. A
divorce records search further revealed that the divorce judgment was
entered in the LA Superior Court on July 30. The said information
regarding the divorce records was made public on August 14, 2007,
Tuesday. The pair has joint custody of their daughters.
Marriage divorce records for the actor and Preston also mentioned that
Phillips made around $600,000 per year. If he receives a hefty pay
bump, his ex-wife and kids will also receive a commensurate portion or
percentage, as per their divorce records agreement. Any future rises in
Phillips’ annual income, Phillips is required to share with
Preston and their children.
Phillips has also agreed to fork over a lump sum amounting to $216,000.
Information relating to the couple’s divorce records reveals that
the actor will be shelling out monthly child support to the tune of
$7,600. The couple’s divorce records also indicated that Phillips
would be providing spousal support worth $4,500 each month. The
“Young Guns” actor will get the 1995 Ford Bronco while his
ex will retain ownership of their 2003 Mercedes.
With their divorce records now final and official, a rough patch in Lou
Diamond Phillips’ personal life also comes to an end. In December
of 2006, the actor pleaded no contest to domestic battery charges
relating to his altercation with former girlfriend Yvonne Boismer.
Phillips was sentenced to probation for three years, undergo counseling
and 200 community service hours. He was also ordered to keep his
distance from Boismer.
