National and State Level Sedition Laws

The definition of sedition may differ among states as well, but the thought and principles are generally the same. Inciting to sedition is still considered a grave offense against the government or a governing agency.

There are variances between sedition and treason. There is disturbance of public peace in both circumstances but the subjective ultimate object is different. The means of action is also different. Sedition does not take sides or directly wages war against an established order. It also does not protest or form a visible body that clamors in city streets and public places. Democratic options are not used in order to subject the discontent into order. Sedition does not adhere to the enemies of the governing body or serve the interest of the enemies. Treason directly uses all of the conditions mentioned above.
