Birth Notices As A Celebration of Life
The main purpose of birth notices is to announce the birth of a
child to the public. Birth notices can also be associated with vital birth
records where every birth is recorded and registered, regardless whether the
child lives or not.
A birth
notice usually contains all relevant information for the baby – name, sex, date
and place of birth, hospital and attending doctor, weight and length of the
baby, father’s name and mother’s maiden name, as well as the names of
grandparents from both sides. They can be accessed through hospital records, the
Bureau of Vital Statistics Office, National Center for Health Statistics, county
clerk offices, and online document agencies.
Birth
notices can take an informal tone, in the form of a birth announcement. It has
become a modern tradition to send out birth announcements to friends and
families with whom the proud parents and even grandparents want to share the
exciting news.
A birth
announcement can also be casual and may contain a photo of the newborn, together with
other additional information the couple might want to share. Often, the baby’s
name and date of birth, together with a sentimental message will suffice as an
appropriate birth announcement.
Birth Notice Ethics
Birth notices should be sent
out as soon as the baby is born. In cases of adoption, birth notices can
appropriately inform your family and friends about your new family member, and
it is perfectly acceptable to state the birth date of the child, even if he or
she is already a few years old. It is also acceptable to include in birth
notices the country or location from where you adopted the child.
Birth notices to friends are
not necessarily hand-written, especially if there are too many of them, although
you might want to put in a personal note with those you send to your immediate
family, close relatives, and friends.
Some people go so far as
creating a website for their newborn, as a birth notice. The website can include
photos of the baby and other information curious friends and families might want
to know.
Of Birth
Notices and Baby Showers
A baby
shower is probably the most extravagant and most expensive form of birth
announcement. A baby shower is usually held four to six weeks before or after
the baby’s birth.
While baby
showers are traditionally held prior to childbirth, many find it more practical
and convenient to celebrate it a month or two after the child is born. Waiting
until the baby is a few weeks old before holding a shower party can have several
advantages.
·
Birth notices can already contain information, like the name and
sex of the baby, making it easier for your friends to buy more personalized and
appropriate gifts.
·
The mother is more relaxed after childbirth and will be able to
enjoy and even participate in the party games and activities.
·
Unlike when she was pregnant, the mother can eat whatever she
feels like eating.
Traditionally, baby showers were only held for first-born babies. Many, today,
however, also hold baby showers or baby sprinkles for their subsequent children,
believing that every child should be welcomed accordingly. Gifts for subsequent
baby showers may already include common household and everyday items.
In
addition to its legal and statistical purposes, birth notices and baby showers
can serve as a great way to announce the delivery of another family blessing.
